MB Stoneman is a printmaking artist based in Patea. She makes works that explore etching and relief printmaking processes, often linking our natural world to the human condition. Her piece 'The Menagerie – An Alphabet Book’, a 26 page book of original etchings is currently being exhibited as part of the HomeWork exhibition at Puke Ariki. This introductory workshop is ideal for anyone who wants to learn the magic behind the process of printmaking – be wary, you may become addicted!

Dry point etching is an intaglio printmaking technique where a sharp tool is used to scribe marks into a plate, creating a burr that holds ink. The plate is inked, then run through the printing press at high pressure to make an impression on paper. Michaela will teach printmaking language and tools, demonstrate techniques and show examples of using plate tone, double exposure and colour rolls to create different moods and effects to inspire you create your own artwork.

No previous experience in printmaking is necessary, Michaela will teach you everything and you will take home a completed print on handmade cotton rag paper.
You will be fed sweet treats and tea/coffee to wash the sugar down!

WHAT TO BRING: All materials are supplied, you may wish to bring your sketchbook
PRICE: $65 per person – limited to 6 people. Morning session (10am-12 noon) will be added to meet demand.
